Prime Minister: Upcoming Season Payment for Cotton Farmers Pass the Bank

The Prime Minister, Kassim Majali has ordered that from the beginning of the year all cotton farmers' payments should go to banks where the farmers will have their money transferred through their accounts.

Thus, he has used the opportunity to urge farmers to open an account at various banks located in their areas so that they can carry out the strategy and also save their money for future use.

The Prime Minister issued the order yesterday evening (Thursday, August 8, 2019) while addressing the citizens of Luguru village, Itilima district shortly after inspecting the cotton warehouse of the Primary Cooperative Development Association.

He visited the village with the aim of seeing cotton sales in the Basic Development Association and was assured that the cotton market is currently well underway.

The Prime Minister said it is good for farmers' payments to be passed through the bank to enable them to plan for better use of their finances and also to provide them with the opportunity to educate themselves on the proper use of money.

In another step, the Prime Minister outlined various government projects in the district including the district hospital construction project which has reached 95 percent.

"A total of 1.5 billion shillings has been donated by the Government for the construction of a district hospital built in Nguno, where all seven priority buildings have been completed."

He said in 2017/2018 the Government provided shs. 2.34 billion for the water projects of the villages of Lagangabilili, Mwamapalala, Kabale, Ikungipipu and Iseng, all completed and providing water.

He said in 2019/2020 the Council through RUWASA has been allocated shs. 4.84 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of water infrastructure. The project will benefit 78 villages.

Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Basic Luguru and Itubilo Development Party, Buzo Hussein thanked the Prime Minister as he has always been at the forefront of addressing the various problems facing farmers in the country and finding solutions.

“This is all due to the acceleration of the Phase Five Government led by President Dr. John Magufuli calling on leaders to monitor the challenges of the people in action and to solve them. ”

He said in their party warehouse there is a total of 175,235 kg of cotton that has been collected from farmers as pending buyers
